School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management professor Bruce McAdams was recently recognized for his work within the realm of responsible management education at the 4th PRME Regional Meeting North America, hosted at the University of Guelph. McAdams was one of three recipients of the PRME Excellence Awards, which recognize the ongoing efforts of individuals in advancing the six United Nations Principles for PRME [1] in the areas research, teaching and service.
The 4th PRME Regional Meeting North America united representatives from academia and industry from across North America to discuss topics connected to integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into educational programming, research and strategic partnerships.
McAdams’ commitment to advancing the principles has been demonstrated through his founding of the University of Guelph Sustainable Restaurant Project (UGSRP), which supports both faculty and student research on topics related to sustainability in the foodservice industry. McAdams was also recognized by the Ontario Hostelry Institute (OHI) in 2016 as its “Educator of the Year.”
“As scholars we have the responsibility to integrate sustainability in the work we do and spread awareness on the importance of achieving the SDGs to our students, fellow researchers and to our communities,” said McAdams. “I am humbled by this recognition and look forward to continuing my work in promoting PRME’s principles.”
