    Research Areas

    • Mechanical Engineering

Joseph Agyapong, PhD, P.Eng. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Guelph. His research focuses on predictive alloy design and extreme mechanics, integrating artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and fracture mechanics to engineer metallic materials for demanding service environments.

His work emphasizes multi-principal element and high-entropy alloys, with particular attention to the links between composition, manufacturability, microstructure, and mechanical performance. By combining computational design tools with experimental characterization, he develops frameworks that enable the prediction of deformation and failure behavior under high strain rates, elevated temperatures, and complex loading conditions.

Dr. Agyapong’s research bridges alloy design, additive manufacturing, and extreme mechanical testing, with applications in aerospace, energy, transportation, and advanced manufacturing systems.
