X--Degree Programs
Department of Physics, College of Physical & Engineering Science.
A grade of 70% in the physics and mathematics courses of semesters 1 and 2 are normally required for admission to semester 3 of this program.
Since some of the required courses are not offered every semester, students entering Honours Physics should plan their program in consultation with the Physics Department.
Students with no previous computing experience are strongly advised to take 27-120 or 27-160. If a science elective is chosen, an Arts or Social Science elective will be required later.
Students who have taken physics courses other than those listed for semesters 1 and 2, may proceed to semester 3 with the permission of the Physics Department.
+Students who have completed the MPC2 program in first year will have satisfied the requirement to do 19-104, 19-105, 27-150, 27-160, 27-170, 63-120, 63-121 (or 63-100, 63-101 or 63-108 63-208), 76-100, 76-101 (or 76-107, 76-108 or 76-111, 76-113).
NOTE: Students going on to graduate school in physics should take 76-413, 76-415, 76-424.
NOTE: The recommended courses for semesters 1 to 8 and the total course requirements are the same as for the Honours Physical Science program.
A major in Physics will consist of 16 physics courses subject to the following recommendations and restrictions:
A minor in Physics requires 10 physics courses including at least 2 courses at the 300 or 400 level and not more than 3 at the 100-level. 76-244, 76-245, 76-246, 76-247 are required; and 76-100 and 76-101 are strongly recommended.
