  1. A total of 4 courses must be in the Arts or Social Sciences
  2. Five approved science courses in an area of emphasis such as Biomedical Sciences, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computing and Information Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Science or Toxicology. Lists of approved courses for each area of emphasis are available from the departmental advisor. Other areas of emphasis may be made available on request with permission from the dean of the College of Physical and Engineering Science.

Major

Note: The recommended courses for semesters 1 to 8 and the total course requirements are the same as for the Honours Physical Science program.

A major in Biochemistry requires the following courses: 19-104, 19-105, 19-206, 19-240 or 19-248, 19-258, 19-270, 19-282, 19-356, 19-357, 19-375, 40-202, and 5 other courses offered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the 300 or 400 level, including at least 2 from 19-452, 19-454, 19-455, 19-457, 19-458,19-463. The Physics requirement of the major in Biochemistry should be met by 76-100 and 76-101. A total of 4 Physical Science courses must be at the 400 level to meet the requirements of the B.Sc. Honours Physical Science program.

Minor

A minor in Biochemistry requires the following courses: 19-104, 19-105, 19-240 or 19-248, 19-282 or 19-288, 19-258, 19-356 or 19-357, two 400 level courses in Biochemistry and 2 other courses offered by the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
