The program in Classical Studies is intended particularly for students interested in Greek and Roman culture, society and history.

Classical Studies Core Requirements

All students are required to complete the following courses:

24-100, plus EITHER (48-110, 48-111, 48-202) OR (61-110, 61-111, 61-200
One of: 24-200 OR 24-215 OR 24-230 OR 24-310
One of: 24-300 OR 24-301 OR 24-302
One of: 24-303 OR 24-304
One of: 24-311 OR 24-315 OR 24-320 OR 49-285 OR 74-214

Honours Program Major

A minimum of 16 courses is required, including:

  1. Classical Studies Core
  2. 24-400, 24-415, 24-440
  3. Five additional Classics courses, two of which may be taken from the following as part of the program:
    37-140 Major English Writers
    37-210 Critical Practice
    37-317 Renaissance Poetry and Prose
    49-220 The Medieval World
    49-245 Historical Methods
    62-100 Introduction to Linguistics

Honours Program Minor

A minimum of 10 courses is required, including:

  1. Classical Studies Core
  2. 2 of: 24-400, 24-415, 24-440
