Description

he Burroughs Wellcome Fund identified Innovation in Regulatory Science as an important, underfunded area. This initiative is designed to provide financial support to stimulate research efforts in this area.  The program's focus is on providing support for academic researchers developing new methodologies or innovative approaches in regulatory science that will ultimately inform the regulatory decisions academic investigators developing new methodologies or innovative approaches in regulatory science that will ultimately inform the regulatory decisions the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and others make.  This would necessarily draw upon the talents of individuals trained in mathematics, computer science, applied physics, medicine, engineering, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and systems pharmacology, to name a few.

 Awards are made to degree-granting institutions in the U.S. or Canada on behalf of the awardee.

Eligibility

These awards are open to U.S. and Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have a faculty or adjunct faculty appointment at a North American degree-granting institution. 

Post Docs and researchers who currently hold a BWF award are not eligible.

Special Notes

All applicants will be required to complete a web-based questionnaire assessing their eligibility to apply for this award. If eligibility criteria are met, applicants will be automatically directed to the web-based proposal form.

Internal Deadline

Applicant to submit a copy of application, a completed Institutional Certification Form along with a complete OR5 form to: research.services@uoguelph.ca

External Deadline

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria (see Special Notes), apply using BWF on line application system.  Proposal elements must be uploaded as PDF including a signed Institutional Certification Form, plus letters of recommendations to be uploaded confidentially by recommender.

Information For Co-applicants

If you need to meet a deadline set by the lead institution for this opportunity, please ensure that you provide the Office of Research with at least five days in advance of the lead institution’s deadline to review the application, or your proposed component of the project. Please be in touch with the Office of Research (contact information below) ahead of the deadline if it looks like it will be difficult for you to submit all the required documentation on time (i.e. budget, proposal, OR-5 Form).
