The CLF is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the following:
four Operating Grants:

  • Two operating grants may be awarded to researchers in Canada whose research projects are related to hepatobiliary research.
  • One operating grant may be awarded to a researcher in Canada whose research project is related to liver cancer.
  • One operating grant (sponsored by F. Pauline Spence) may be awarded to a researcher in Ontario whose research project is related to hepatobiliary research.

Three Summer Studentships:

  • One summer studentship may be awarded to a student in Canada whose research project is related to hepatobiliary research.
  • One summer studentship (sponsored by Ontario Association of Gastroenterology) may be awarded to a student in Ontario whose research project is related to hepatobiliary research.
  • One summer studentship may be awarded to a student in Canada whose research project is related to hepatic encephalopathy.

Eligibility

Operating Grant:  Investigators with primary research interest in liver disease who hold an academic appointment in a Canadian university or affiliated institution are eligible to apply.  Clinical investigators and basic scientists will be considered. Applicants for operating grants must be members of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver (CASL). Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and permanent residents will receive first consideration.

Summer Studentships:  Applicants must be registered at a Canadian Institution in an undergraduate degree program. Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and permanent residents will receive first consideration.

Funding Availability

Operating Grant: up to $60,000 annually

Summer Studentships: $3,500 stipend plus $500 for supplies

Summer Studentships: any three summer months (May - August)

External Deadline

Operating Grant: PI to submit a single PDF file of your entire grant application including CV(s) and other attachments should be sent by e-mail to Billie Potkonjak at bpotkonjak@liver.ca by the deadline date.

Summer Studentships: 

  1. A single PDF file of your entire grant application (excluding your academic transcript and reference letter) should be sent by email to Billie Potkonjak at bpotkonjak@liver.ca by the deadline date. 
  2. One reference letter, from someone other than your supervisor, must be submitted by email to Billie Potkonjak at bpotkonjak@liver.ca. The reference letter must be received by the deadline date. 
  3. Your academic transcript must be received at the CLF National Office by the deadline date. A scanned copy of the official transcript can be emailed to bpotkonjak@liver.ca.
