Changes are coming to the Centre for Open Science’s Open Science Framework
The Centre for Open Science has sent an announcement to its users that changes are coming to its Open Science Framework (OSF).
Some key takeaways for U of G researchers who use the platform:
-
Starting November 16, 2026: No new projects or child components of existing projects can be created, although all other functions will remain.
-
Starting February 19, 2026: All OSF projects will convert to read-only projects.
-
While there is no single Canadian replacement for the full OSF Projects environment, there are many institutional tools that may support different use cases. Examples include:
-
Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for active collaboration and file management
-
Borealis, the Federated Research Data Repository or other discipline-specific repositories for data deposit and preservation.
