For More Information
CIHR maintains a website for Current Funding Opportunities outlining all upcoming program details and guidelines.
Description
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is Canada's federal funding agency for health research. Composed of 13 Institutes, they collaborate with partners and researchers to support the discoveries and innovations that improve our health and strengthen our health care system. To this end, CIHR maintains a website dedicated to informing researchers about their programs and funding opportunities. The Research Services Office is committed to keeping the campus community informed of these opportunities by ensuring access to program information. Please see the link available in the For More Information section.
The site is updated regularly as additional opportunities arise, but currently includes:
- Operating Grant: Yukon Network Environments for Indigenous Health Research Centre - April 1, 2026
- Other: Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging - April 15, 2026
- Operating Grant: New Investigator Research Grants in Child and Youth Health (2026) - April 20, 2026

How to Apply
Please ensure you review the full guidelines posted by the sponsor. Applicants should submit their complete application and signed OR-5 to the Research Services Office (research.services@uoguelph.ca) at least seven (7) days in advance of CIHR's external deadline.
For smaller programs or special calls, the Nominated Principal Applicant uploads the full application in the ResearchNet portal. Please note for these programs that clicking submit will send the application to CIHR and not the Research Services Office. This should only be done once you have received the signed signature page from RSO.
For standard, cyclical programs such as the bi-annual Project Grants competition where Research Support Services is responsible for submission to CIHR, a separate and specific Research Alert will be posted for applicant information.
