Description

The purpose of the Sepsis Research Network (Network) funding opportunity is to fund a single nationally coordinated research network with the goal of further understanding the causes and improving the prevention, detection and management of sepsis. The Network will bring together experts from different disciplines working collaboratively on a number of inter-related research projects under an integrated and unified program of research. The relevant research areas for this funding opportunity are:

• Understanding the pathogenesis, causes and possible prevention of sepsis;
• Improving the prevention, detection and management of sepsis;
• Understanding the roles diabetes mellitus and glucose control have on outcomes in patients with sepsis;
• Understanding the roles metabolism and nutrition may play in the treatment and outcomes for patients with sepsis.

Funding Availability

The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $5,800,000, enough to fund approximately four (4) Letters of Intent and one (1) Full Network grant.
