Description
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority, through this grant program, will make strategic investments in Internet related community projects consistent with CIRA’s Strategic Plan. This year, the program will focus on five key funding areas infrastructure, digital literacy, access, engagement and services.
Eligibility
Academics and researchers affiliated with a Canadian university. Organizations must be based in Canada and projects, while they can have a broader impact, must be of benefit to Canadians. There are no limits for academic institutions; however, the lead researcher(s) may submit only one application at a time.
Maximum Project Value
Grants are available up to $100,000. For this competition, one grant will be available up to $250,000.
Grants are meant to be a one-time investment and not intended as operating funding for an organization.
Indirect Costs
15% of the total amount requested (for example: $25,000 total amount requested divided by .85 = $29,411.76 x .15 = $4,412 IDC).
Project Duration
Up to one year for grants up to $100,000. Up to two years for the one grant up to $250,000.

If College-level review is required, your College will communicate its earlier internal deadlines.

Information For Co-applicants
If you need to meet a deadline set by the lead institution for this opportunity, please ensure that you provide the Office of Research with at least five days in advance of the lead institution’s deadline to review the application, or your proposed component of the project. Please be in touch with the Office of Research (contact information below) ahead of the deadline if it looks like it will be difficult for you to submit all the required documentation on time (i.e. budget, proposal, OR-5 Form).
