Description

The Dan David Prize celebrates scholars and practitioners whose work illuminates the human past and can enrich public discourse with a deeper understanding of history.

The Dan David Prize awards up to nine prizes of $300,000 each year to outstanding early and mid-career scholars and practitioners in the historical disciplines. The Prize is given in recognition of the winners’ contribution to the study of the past and to support their future endeavors.

Eligibility

Nominees can come from any field related to the study of the human past, both within academia and outside it. Scholars, (from disciplines including history, archaeology, art history, digital humanities and human palaeontology), independent scholars, public historians, museum curators and documentary filmmakers are all eligible.

Anyone can nominate. Self-nominations will not be considered. Nominees should exhibit strong potential for future excellence, innovation and leadership that will help shape the study of the past for years to come.
