ECCIR and Visnea: Webinar series on opportunities for health innovators

Description

Horizon Europe is the European Union’s (EU’s) key funding program for research and innovation. While the program is managed and funded by the European Commission (EU Commission) in Brussels, it allows for the participation of a wide range of countries from around the globe. Canadian participation is possible under present circumstances, based on eligibility requirements. The Canadian government is currently negotiating with the EU Commission to obtain “Associated Country” status. Once such a status is in place, direct funding under Pillar II of Horizon Europe will become fully available for Canadian researchers, administrators and entrepreneurs.

The European-Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research (ECCIR) — an Alberta-based non-profit that supports international collaboration for innovation and research — and the consultancy agency Visnea — which operates out of Poland and Nova Scotia — are jointly offering a two-part webinar series, "Canada Partnering with 'Horizon Europe': Opportunities for the Medical Sciences and the Health Sector"  to provide more detailed information on present and future opportunities under Horizon Europe.

The webinars will focus on specific academic sectors and will assist with:
  • understanding the basic rationale of the Horizon Europe program: what makes Horizon Europe so special and why does it make sense to get involved?
  • assessing present opportunities that the program offers: who can apply for which project?
  • appreciating the complexities and challenges involved in applying for and participating in Horizon Europe projects: which steps can I take to get ready?
  • finding support and assistance to ease any challenges involved with Horizon Europe applications and participation: who can help and how?
  • discovering the broader range of opportunities that Canada’s associate membership will allow if confirmed: should I consider applying now or should I wait?

Targeting Canadian health innovators and researchers with international ambitions, these webinars are designed to help attendees understand and leverage Horizon Europe. With a budget of EUR 95 billion, Horizon Europe currently offers many opportunities to Canadians and will become even more relevant as Canada negotiates its "Associated Country" status within the program. The panel of experts will offer insights into the program and reveal current and future funding opportunities for Canadian health innovators.
