Description
Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research and innovation collaboration program with a budget of $140 billion CAD (€95.5b, 2021 to 2027). There are roughly $10 billion worth of Pillar II project calls each year. These are based on global challenges where a group of chosen partners (consortium) of Europeans, associated countries and others, work together to co-innovate on projects.
Canada is a “member” (associated country) to Horizon Europe Pillar II (2024 to 2027). Association means Canadians can participate under equivalent conditions as EU Member States and receive grants directly from the European Commission.
The 2025 project calls have now been pre-published. Canada has been granted ACCESS to sensitive calls for 2025 in AI, Quantum, and Space. The last publication for all 2026/2027 calls will be out by early 2026.
For more information on how to apply, find partners or join an existing network, Canadian eligibility, and other helpful resources, please see the attached Horizon Europe Support Document for Canadians, the European Commission's Horizon Europe - Pillar 2 Research Alert, or reach out the the Research Services Office (research.services@uoguelph.ca).
