Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet)
Program
Collaborative Team Grants seek to fund projects that involve two or more research groups, preferably in different institutions. Proposals must demonstrate translational potential, which will be an important evaluation criterion.
Requirements
Projects should:
- Be aligned with GlycoNet’s research mandate.
- Be of an applied nature with well-defined translational strategy.
- Involve the training of Highly Qualified Personnel.
- Projects must involve two or more research groups, preferably at different institutions.
Projects should not:
- Concern basic biochemistry or biology with no tangible translational outcome.

Description
The Canadian Glycomics Network is a pan-Canadian research, development and innovation network that focuses on the role of glycans (carbohydrates) in health. GlycoNet brings together 193 funded and affiliated research groups from 37 universities and institutions across Canada. The Network collaborates with industry, government, and non-profit partners on developing innovative, made-in-Canada solutions to global challenges in health and sustainable agri-food systems.
GlycoNet's 4 priority research areas are:
- Infectious diseases
- Immunology
- Precision medicine
- Animal health and sustainable agri-food systems
Funding Availability
$150,000/year over two years.
Matching contributions are required at a minimum of 1:1, with at least 50% in cash contributions (e.g., for a $150,000 request from GlycoNet, matching should be $150,000 with at least $75,000 in cash; the rest can be in-kind. For eligible in-kind contributions, please see Appendix A of Request for Proposals at the link provided in the "For More Information" section).
Partner funding must be SSF eligible; in particular, other Canadian Federal funding is ineligible for matching.
