Pre-proposals for the Fishery Research Program and Sea Lamprey Research Program are being accepted until January 15, 2024. Please review the call for proposals before submitting your pre-proposal. Pre-proposals should be submitted through the online system, which contains detailed submission instructions. Please visit the GLFC Call for Proposals web-page to access the link to the call for proposals document, as well as the link to the online system.

Proposals are evaluated for relevance and scientific merit and against information needs identified by the Research Themes under which they are submitted.

New requirement: Diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural (DIEC) competency considerations should be embedded throughout the relevant sections of a research proposal and summarized in a separate DEIC statement. This new GLFC requirement can be reviewed in the GLFC DIEC web document.

Funding Availability

Individual awards are typically between $35,000 and $100,000 per year.

New projects may not begin before January 1, 2025.

Instructions on submitting the pre-proposal:

  1. Pre-proposals must be electronically submitted by January 15, 2024, 11:59 pm EST. To electronically submit your pre-proposal, create an account or log in to an existing account on the GLFC online proposal system.
  2. Upload an electronic copy of your pre-proposal as pdf. 
  3. In addition to submitting an electronic copy of your pre-proposal, investigators are required to input proposal details into the proposal system.
  4. Upload additional proposal documents to the “Proposal Documents” section of the online system. Additional documents, besides those described above are not permitted.
