Description

NSERC and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) recently announced a partnership that will enable that leveraging of funds from Ontario based small to medium sized enterprise (SME) through the both NSERC Alliance and OCE VIP programs.

This joint funding initiative will support post-secondary R&D collaborations with the highest potential for regional economic development and commercialization in Ontario. The streamlined joint application and decision process enables companies to quickly undertake new research collaborations with Ontario-based researchers and have their cash contribution leveraged by both NSERC and OCE. For additional information on the NSERC Alliance - OCE VIP opportunity, please see the Research Alert.

Please join us on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for a virtual information session provided by Sarah O'Neil, Research and Innovation Development Officer with NSERC's Ontario Regional Office, and John Chiappetta, Business Development and Commercialization Manager with OCE.  Sarah and John will provide an overview of the new joint funding initiative touching upon guiding principles, eligibility guidelines, cost-sharing, and the details of the application process.

The session will also include a short presentation by Meredith McLaren (Partnerships Officer, SOSCIP) and Fei Mao (Technical Lead, SOSCIP). Meredith and Fei will provide a short overview of SOSCIP's current platform capabilities and discuss how University of Guelph faculty can leverage OCE, NSERC and other funding sources to access SOSCIP resources and further advance their research work.

SOSCIP is a collaborative consortium that connects member institutions (Ontario’s research-intensive post-secondary institutions and industry partners) with small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the province. SOSCIP supports researchers from a wide array of disciplines by providing access to advanced computing resources and technical expertise needed to advance industry-driven R&D projects.
