The Research Innovation Office invites researchers to join Accelerator Guelph!

  • Do you have an innovative technology or solution that could have real-world commercial applications?
  • Do you have an existing business or product development project that could benefit from support?
  • Do you have a budding idea that you’d like to workshop?

If you - or someone on your research team - have a dream to create and grow an agri-food or other research-based business, Accelerator Guelph commercialization can help. This self-directed program offers the tools, inspiration and mentorship that turns inventions into innovations. Since launching the program in 2018, 29 research-based business ideas have been incubated with Accelerator Guelph, many becoming successful incorporated companies.

Accelerator Guelph is specifically designed for entrepreneurial academics. Our program provides transferable intrapreneurship skills that will improve your teams day-to-day work and allow them to articulate the value of their work to all kinds of partners.

Participants can also be eligible for market validation and product development funding through commercialization programs like the Gryphon’s LAAIR pitch competition. To date, eight AG teams have furthered their projects by winning Gryphon’s LAAIR funding grants totaling $457,500.

We offer a range of complementary programming and mentorship services valued around $10,000. We accept participants on a rolling basis.

Special Notes

Please note that research activities carried out in the context of COVID-19 need to adhere to the University of Guelph COVID-19 research principles, policies, guidelines and processes as they may be updated from time to time and communicated on the Office of Research web-page.
