The Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences
Description
The Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences recognizes and fosters ongoing excellence in scientific achievement and discovery. “We seek to honor research that is distinguished by its excellence, originality and impact on our understanding of biological systems and processes,” explains Deborah Wiley, Chair of the Foundation. The award is not a life-time achievement award but instead is intended to recognize seminal discoveries that have not received extensive recognition.
Past prize winners have been chosen because of their breakthrough research in areas as diverse as genetics, cell motility, folded proteins and siRNA. The impressive list of past recipients includes winners of the Nobel Prize and the Lasker Prize in Basic Medical Research.
Eligibility
The Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences is intended to recognize breakthrough research in pure or applied life science research that is distinguished by its excellence, originality and impact on our understanding of biological systems and processes. The award may recognize a specific contribution or series of contributions that demonstrate the nominee's significant leadership in the development of research concepts or their clinical application. Particular emphasis will be placed on research which champions novel approaches and challenges accepted thinking in the biomedical sciences.
