Facilitated by Zafar Adeel (Director and Professor of Practice, School of Sustainable Energy Engineering at Simon Fraser University; Executive Director, Pacific Water Research Centre; Associate Member, School of Resource and Environmental Management), this session will explore the fundamentals of developing effective policy briefs and engaging policy audiences.

  • Effective approaches for engaging with policy audiences
  • The purpose, structure and core components of a strong policy brief
  • Writing techniques for communicating research in policy-relevant language
  • Real-world examples of policy briefs in action
  • The potential impact of policy briefs in informing decision-making
