Description

Mitacs has partnered with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to support student mobility between Canadian universities and Japanese universities and research institutes.  The Mitacs-JSPS Internship provides opportunities for graduate students in Canada to pursue collaborative research in Japan, allowing them to advance their own research while promoting scientific progress in both Japan and Canada.

Eligibility

Graduate Students, Faculty (see Eligibility Guidelines).  Students who have previously participated in a JSPS Fellowship Program are not eligible.

Funding Availability

The Mitacs-JSPS Internship is competitive with limited awards available.

Maximum Project Value

JSPS will provide round-trip airfare, insurance, a maintenance allowance, and a research support allowance.

10 Weeks from June 14 to August 24, 2016

Special Notes

Travel to the destination prior to the approval of the award is not permitted and neither Mitacs nor JSPS is responsible for any costs incurred before the application is approved. Travel may not be initiated until Mitacs has received all documents, including the International Pre-departure Form, Mitacs Student Code of Conduct and Ethics Form, and the application has been approved.

How to Apply

Upon approval from the Office of Research Services, PI’s are to submit their final application (saved as PDF) to the sponsor at apply@mitacs.ca. In the subject heading of your email please state “[student first and last names]_JSPS.”
