Description
The objective of the Shastri Scholar Travel Subsidy Grant projects are to promote the mobility of scholars between India and Canada, to initiate or strengthen Canada-India knowledge exchange and partnerships, which support education cooperation between the two countries. Grants are available to Canadian scholars for travel to participate in conferences, workshops, seminars and academic meetings in India or Canada with a view to establishing institutional and scholarly linkages.
Eligibility
Faculty must be citizens or permanent residents of Canada. If selected, the SSTSG fund may be used either for the Canadian scholar’s own travel to India, or to bring an Indian faculty or student in his/her Canadian campus/event. Applicants must have been invited to participate by an academic institution and be affiliated with, or travelling to a Shastri Institute member institution.
Funding Availability
Shastri will provide up to $1,000 to support the scholars’ international air fare (economy class). Other associated costs, such as costs related to visas, meals, per diem and accommodations are not eligible for this grant.
Project Duration
For the period between October 16, 2015 to June 30, 2016
