Description

The Simons Foundation Division for Mathematics and the Physical Sciences invites applications for the Simons Fellows in both Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. The Fellows Programs provide funds to faculty for up to a semester long research leave from classroom teaching and administrative obligations. Such leaves can increase creativity and provide intellectual stimulation. The goal of the Simons Fellows Program is to make it easier to take such leaves, or to extend sabbatical leaves by an extra half year.

Eligibility

Faculty in mathematics and physical sciences. Grants awarded will be restricted to sabbatical-eligible faculty who wish to use the grant for the purpose of extending a single term sabbatical leave to a full academic year. Emeriti and retired faculty are not eligible.

Funding Availability

Covers salary related funds and leave-related expenses up to $100,00. Applicants can supplement if over $100,000 as long as the total salary, including foundation support for the period of the leave is less than or equal to the academic year salary.

Project Duration

One year. Fellowships can begin no earlier than July 1, 2017 and must be completed by August 31, 2018.
