The Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance requests Full Proposals that address OMAFRA’s research priorities. Full Proposals must address research questions in the following research priority areas:
- Protection and Assurance
- Food Safety
- Animal Health & Welfare
- Plant Health & Protection
- Stewardship
- Soil Health
- Water Quality & Quantity
- Sustainable Production Systems
- Productive Land Capacity
- Economic Development
- Competitive Production Systems
- Innovative Products & Product Improvement
- Trade, Market, Targeted Sector Growth Opportunities
- Strong Rural Communities

NOTE: The 2021 program will be a single-stage call. There is no letter of intent stage. Full Proposals are due by 1:00 pm on December 2, 2020. Intent information must be complete by November 16, 2020.
Eligibility
University of Guelph faculty members are eligible to be the lead applicant and/or a co-applicant on any Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance Research Program project. Adjunct faculty members may also apply if they are eligible to hold research funding at the University of Guelph.
Prior to being awarded any new project(s) under the OMAFRA/UofG Agreement, lead applicants and co-applicants must be fully compliant with all reporting requirements for existing projects under the Alliance Research Program.
Special Notes
Proposal Compliance Checks (optional)
Office of Research, Agri-Food Partnership staff are offering to complete a compliance check of proposals in advance of the submission deadline. The compliance check does not assess overall quality or scientific merit, but will review the proposal for issues that are not caught during the system validation checks in the RMS (e.g. congruence between team/HQP tables and the budget, eligibility of budget items etc.). Please email rescoord@uoguelph.ca [2] on or before the intent deadline (November 16) if you want program staff to complete a compliance check of your proposal. The proposal should be at or near completion.
Withdrawing Proposals
Proposals that have been started in the RMS but will not be submitted should be withdrawn by selecting ‘Withdraw’ on the bottom left side of the application template.
COVID-19
Please note that research activities carried out in the context of COVID-19 need to adhere to the University of Guelph COVID-19 research principles, policies, guidelines and processes as they may be updated from time to time and communicated on the Office of Research web-page [4].
