University of Guelph researchers found that sick dogs show reduced social interaction, offering a potential behavioural indicator of illness. Led by Dr. Michael Brunt [1], the study involved beagles fed diets containing Fusarium mycotoxin, a common pet food contaminant. The findings highlight how changes in social behaviour can signal underlying health issues in animals.
