University of Guelph researchers are testing a new spray-on peach-thinning product that could transform the tender fruit industry. Traditionally, growers rely on labour-intensive hand-thinning to remove smaller fruits, allowing remaining peaches to reach market size. Dr. John Cline [1] a professor in the Ontario Agricultural College, is evaluating a product designed to reduce manual labour, boost fruit size, and improve efficiency. The innovation could offer significant cost savings and productivity gains for peach growers.
