Gryph Mail as a Hosted Service

As jointly announced in February 2011 by the University of Guelph and Scalar Decisions, the University of Guelph plans to move its Gryph Mail platform to a cloud solution at Scalar. This project followed in the strategy of Desire2Learn by utilizing externally hosted environments, providing us cost effective solutions while maintaining stability and reliability.

By choosing this Canadian company, our goal was continued delivery of consistent, secure and reliable Gryph Mail services while retaining full control of the end-user environment and data.

Current Status

The project is continues to be held as options to proceed are explored.

No new infrastructure changes are currently planned or scheduled.

Next Steps

The University remains committed to delivering a stable and reliable cloud based email service for the campus community. Options for realizing this goal are under consideration and the project will be reactivated only when CCS is fully satisfied that the proposed solution will fully meet expectations.

We do not expect to provide another update until the end of October.
