Wireless Upgrade

If your computer was built prior to 2003 or if you are using the 802.11b protocol to connect remotely to the wireless network, you may encounter difficulty connecting to the wireless network as of January 19, 2010. This is due to an upgrade that will to improve accessibility and speed across campus, but may result in restricted accessibility to a small percentage of computers built prior to 2003.

If you are having difficulty connecting remotely, you may be using the 802.11b protocol, which is no longer supported on the campus wireless network. This may be corrected by a simple change of settings on your computer. In order to ensure that your wireless card is able to support the 802.11g protocol, and it has the latest driver installed and correctly configured, we recommend that you please contact your local departmental IT support or the CCS Help Centre at 519-824-4120 ext. 58888 or 58888help@uoguelph.ca. You can also get assistance at the CCS IT Help Desk located on the first floor of the Library.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
