AUCC Comments on Federal Budget

May 03, 2006 - Campus Bulletin

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) has issued a response to the federal budget, which was delivered Tuesday.

AUCC is praising the government for supporting university research and for recognizing the important role that research plays for Canadians. The federal budget contained increased funding for the three federal research granting agencies and the Canada Foundation for Innovation. In addition, $40 million will be provided for indirect costs, which will help cover the additional expenses borne by universities as a result of research activities.

The government also confirmed a $1 billion investment in university and college infrastructure and equipment.
