Flags To Be At Half-Mast Wednesday In Memory of Former Board Chair

May 15, 2006 - Campus Bulletin

Campus flags will be at half-mast Wednesday to mark the funeral service for Tom McEwan, the first chair of U of G’s Board of Governors, who died Saturday.

McEwan served as the founding chair of B of G in 1964. He was a former Guelph businessman and past chair of the city’s public board of education. In 2000, he donated a collection of materials about the University’s founding years to the U of G Library. The papers provide a view of the social and political forces that helped shape the University and the general education system in Ontario.

Funeral services for McEwan will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in War Memorial Hall.
