Prof on Canada AM

October 29, 2007 - In the News

Integrative biology professor John Fryxelll appeared on the CTV news program Canada AM on Monday to discuss his new research on how animals' social structures and groups are the key to a sustainable ecosystem.

To read an online version of the interview visit Canada AM. To watch a video of the interview go to the video section along the right side of the webpage and click on "John Fryxell, University of Guelph".

Fryxell published a paper in Nature this week on how grouping stabilizes interactions between predators and prey, and how social groups rather than individuals are the basic building blocks for interactions in the animal kingdom. The study suggests the need to curb activities that break up animals' social structures.
