Student Playing on National Hockey Team

Guelph student Drew Doughty was named to Canada's National Junior Team for the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic.

A defenseman for the Guelph Storm, Doughty and his Team Canada teammates will play their first game of the tournament on Boxing Day versus the Czech Republic at 2 p.m.

The Canadian team has captured the gold medal in the world junior championships the last three years.

TSN will have live coverage of the world junior championships airing from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Team Canada games will also be broadcast live on the FAN radio network.

Live coverage will also feature research by Prof. Lawrence Spriet, Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, who conducted dehydration testing on the junior team to help improve performance.
