Students Eligible for New Government Grant

September 10, 2008 - Campus Bulletin

The Ontario government has announced a new annual grant to help full-time university and community college students pay for textbooks and computer costs. The grant is available to students taking at least 60 per cent of a full course load (40 per cent for students with permanent disabilities).

The $150 textbook and technology grant is now available to full-time U of G students who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or protected persons. The annual grant will increase to $300 per year when fully implemented.

Full-time students who have applied for OSAP for the current academic year will automatically be considered for the grant. Eligible full-time students who are not receiving OSAP will need to complete a short online application.

Those studying for one term only must submit applications within 30 days of the beginning of their term. Those studying for two or three terms must apply no later than 90 days before the end of their study period.

Applications and more information is available online.
