Gryphon Quarterback Suspended

September 28, 2009 - News Release

The University of Guelph's Department of Athletics has suspended Gryphon quarterback Justin Dunk (Guelph, Ont.) for one game for using inappropriate language during Saturday’s Homecoming game against the Western Mustangs. Dunk will sit out the Oct. 3 game against Waterloo.

The incident involved Dunk making a profane remark about Western on camera during the televised game.

“I have spoken about this with Justin,” said Tom Kendall, director of athletics. “He is one of the top quarterbacks in the country, but we both agree that his actions Saturday do not reflect the high standards required of all Gryphon athletes.”

Dunk said: “I apologize for my remarks; they were offensive and inappropriate. Like all of life’s experiences, I will learn from this.”
