Profs Featured in Television Media

April 26, 2010 - In the News

Environmental biology professor Ernesto Guzman was featured on the Discovery Channel's Daily Planet Tuesday. "Unwrapping Bees" covers Guzman's research on Ontario's recent honeybee loss.

Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ontario Beekeepers Association, Guzman's research points to the Varroa mite as the main culprit behind mysterious die-offs of honeybee colonies that have alarmed beekeepers, crop growers and the general public over the past three years.

Hosted by Jay Ingram and Ziya Tong, Daily Planet is a daily science show that delivers a fascinating mix of documentaries and features. The story featuring Guzman will air tonight at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. as well as Tuesday at 9 a.m. and noon.

Psychology professor Mark Fenske was featured on CTV News Southwestern Ontario Monday night. The story, "Building a Bigger and Better Brain," was subsequently picked up by CTV affiliates across the country.

A story on Fenke discussing his new book "The Winner's Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success," which he co-authored with fellow Harvard-trained brain expert Jeff Brown, will air during the 6 p.m. newscast.
