Riders, OVC Gearing Up for Aug. 26 Equi-Challenge

August 18, 2010 - News Release

The second annual Equi-Challenge, which involves top riders "changing reins" to raise funds for the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College, will be held Aug. 26 in Halton Hills.

The event showcases the leaders and legends of the riding world competing in a unique team-style competition, with such matchups as jockeys on show jumpers, dressage riders playing polo and show jumpers on western barrel racing horses.

Last year’s inaugural event took place before a sold-out crowd at the Iron Horse Farm equestrian estate in Caledon. This year it will be held at Halton Place.

World-class riders from various equine disciplines will compete, including thoroughbred racing legend Sandy Hawley, and a special “mystery team” will be announced that day. The event will also feature demonstrations, a chef-prepared barbecue of locally grown foods and musical performances. Guests will include luminaries from each of the sport disciplines: riders, owners, trainers, breeders and veterinary practitioners.

Tickets for Equi-Challenge are $185 each. Ticket information is available online, via email (liz@lizshaughnessy.com) or by calling 905-880-8053.
