Prof Featured on CTV

Prof. Ian Newby-Clark is featured on CTV News offering advice on how to handle failed New Year's resolutions.

The psychology professor, who conducts research on self-improvement, said the first step is not to beat ourselves up about our broken New Year's resolutions. Instead, we should commend ourselves for recognizing that there's something about ourselves that needs changing.

In most cases, resolutions are made in haste, but he advises that when we make resolutions, we need to also have a plan in place for how we can successfully achieve them. He also said we tend to make resolutions that are not realistic. Instead, we should set smaller goals that are easier to achieve rather than setting one large lofty goal.
