Gryphon runner Kyle Boorsma and women’s rugby player Jacey Murphy have been named U of G’s Athletes of the Year for 2010-2011. They were among student athletes honoured at the Guelph Gryphons awards banquet held at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre Thursday night.

He won a silver medal at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships, and was named an OUA all-star and a CIS first team All-Canadian. He helped the men’s team earn its seventh consecutive OUA title and its fifth CIS title in a row.

He was the OUA champion in the 1,500m, was named a first-team OUA all-star and CIS All-Canadian, and helped his squad win national and provincial silver medals. He will graduate as the U of G record-holder in the 1,500m and 3,000m.
