OVC Vet Gives Tips to Help Pets Avoid Heatstroke

Shane Bateman of U of G's Ontario Veterinary College was interviewed by the Canadian Press about what pet owners should do if their pet exhibits signs of heatstroke. Articles appeared in several newspapers and in television and radio news reports today, including CBC, MSN, Global TV, Citytv, the Winnipeg Free Press and the Huffington Post.

Bateman joined OVC's emergency and critical care staff after serving as director of the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre. Trained as a veterinarian in Saskatchewan, Bateman came to OVC in 1993 for an internship in small-animal medicine, followed by a residency and a D.V.Sc. in emergency and critical care. He returned to Guelph following more than 10 years as a clinical professor at Ohio State University.
