University of Guelph professor Ryan Norris was on CBC Radio’s Quirks & Quarks Saturday.

Norris has received substantial media attention recently. Research by the integrative biology professor on the migration route of the northern wheatear was featured in the Toronto Star last month.

Published in Biology Letters, the study by Norris, David Hussell from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and a team of German researchers led by Franz Bairlein at the Institute of Avian Research proves that this Alaskan songbird regularly travels some 29,000 kilometres across ocean and desert. Scaled for body size, this is one of the longest round-trip migratory journeys by any bird in the world.

The research made BBC international radio, CBC North, the Discovery Channel, the National Post, the Guelph Mercury and The Province, among numerous other publications.
