The University of Guelph Chamber Singers placed third at the prestigious Mosbach International Chamber Choir Competition held in Germany this past weekend.

The U of G choir was one of only six choirs chosen — and the only one from North America — to compete at the event.

The judges for were the world-renowned conductors Frieder Bernius and Marcus Creed.

The 26-singer choir is conducted by Marta McCarthy, School of Fine Art and Music.

Suzy Lake,
a retired professor in the School of Fine Art and Music, was featured in Saturday’s Globe and Mail.

The Georgia Scherman Projects in Toronto is currently displaying some of Lake’s works from the early 1970s until present. The show is titled “So Whose Gaze Is It Now?” and continues until May 26.

Lake joined the U of G faculty in 1978. She was one of a pioneering group of artists in the early '70s to adopt performance, video and photography to explore the politics of gender, the body and identity.
