Statement from President Alastair Summerlee Regarding Canadian University Professors Detained in Egypt

"On behalf of the University of Guelph community, I am writing to express my deep concern about the safety and treatment of Prof. John Greyson, an associate professor at York University, and Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency medicine professor at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, who have been arrested in Cairo, Egypt.

We are in contact with our Member of Parliament about the detainment of the two men and are grateful for the Canadian government’s efforts in expediting their safe return to Canada. Our thoughts and best wishes are also with Prof. Greyson’s and Dr. Loubani’s families and friends at this time, as well as our colleagues at Western and York universities."
