Update on CUPE 1334 Negotiations

October 01, 2013 - Campus Bulletin

Talks continue between the University of Guelph and CUPE Local 1334, the union representing about 230 trades, custodial and maintenance workers on campus.

Both parties will meet with a mediator Oct. 1. The University hopes to reach a fair settlement.

CUPE 1334 will be in a legal strike position as of Oct. 3.

The University would remain open during any labour disruption. The labour dispute involves only members of CUPE 1334; all other University employees would be expected to report to work as usual.

All classes and exams would continue as scheduled. The University would continue to provide services to students, faculty, staff and the general public.

Any labour dispute would likely involve picket lines and service disruptions on campus beginning Oct. 3. Faculty, students and staff should plan for extra time needed to get to work and class.

Information about how public transportation services would be affected and other answers to frequently asked questions is available online.

The U of G community will be kept informed about the situation. Watch this website for updates and information.
