Be Part of Commemorative "50" Photo on Johnston Green

November 21, 2013 - Campus Bulletin

Want to help celebrate U of G’s 50th anniversary? Organizers are looking for students, faculty and staff to pose on Johnston Green next week for a group commemorative “50” photo.

The photo planned for Tuesday, Nov. 26, will be used for the university's annual seasonal greeting and an electronic copy will be available on the 50th Anniversary website.

The first 500 participants will receive a free T-shirt to wear for the photo, in either red, black or gold, and keep afterwards. Everyone attending will help to form a giant 50 on the green, to be photographed from the clock tower of Johnston Hall.

“We hope to have as many students, faculty and departments as possible represented,” said Stephanie Butler, manager of community engagement in the Office of the President. “We will also be using a gigapan camera, which creates high-resolution, interactive panoramic images. Participants will be able to view the images online, zoom in and tag themselves using social media. What we’re creating is a social, interactive representation of the University’s people and its history.”

The photograph will be taken at 10 a.m., so those attending should plan to arrive at 9:50 a.m. This event is free and open to all U of G community members.
