Two Profs on The Agenda Tonight

March 25, 2014 - In the News

Two University of Guelph professors will discuss food fears tonight on TVO’s flagship current affairs show, The Agenda. Host Steve Paikin will interview Prof. Art Hill, Food Science, about whether raw milk should be sold in Ontario. Hill has studied cheese technology, dairy chemistry and dairy processing. He consults with the dairy industry, and has influenced government and industry policies on issues such as milk pricing and the safety of cheese curds and raw milk cheese.

Prof. Rene Van Acker, Plant Agriculture, will take part in a panel discussion on safety and consumer concerns over genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Van Acker studies biosafety and is associate dean, external relations, of the Ontario Agricultural College. He will discuss whether GMOs are safe or whether consumers should worry about their prevalence two decades after GMOs' appearance on the market.
