FASTWURMS – SOFAM

Close-up view of Gryphon Sculpture

FASTWURMS is a multidisciplinary artist collective, comprised of SOFAM professors Dai Skuse and Kim Kozzi. Originally formed in 1979, Skuse and Kozzi’s work has been exhibited around the world. Their projects meld high art with popular culture while engaging with “witch positivity, working class aesthetics, queer politics, and public collaborations.” Their most recent project, Gryphon, was collaboratively designed and completed with MFA grads Nicole Vogelzang and Dustin Wilson. FASTWURMS was commissioned by the University of Guelph to produce a work that in the words of former president, Alastair Summerlee, “fostered the value of the greater good and giving back.” The project was funded by student groups and alumni. Located at the corner of Stone Road and Gordon Street, the sculpture has become a touchstone for past, present, and future U of G students.
