25,000 people die each day from hunger – more than tuberculosis, malaria and AIDS combined. That’s 600 every hour, 10 every minute, 1 every 6 seconds. In one hour… you could influence 150,000+ lives and make a significant difference.
As a part of the initiatives for Universities Fighting World Hunger and The Better Planet Project the University of Guelph is organizing this event to raise awareness about hunger and do something about it. Please help promote the event by encouraging others join. Feel free to invite as many others as you can.
The meals will be given to ONEXONE to distribute to schoolchildren in Haiti and Somalia.
We hope this will be just the first in a series of events to help to fight world hunger and make this a better planet.
Our goal is to package over 150,000 meals in one hour. To do this we will need approximately 1,500 volunteers to package the meals and Green Shirt Volunteers to assist with set up and clean up.
You can register as an individual or as a team. You can dress up or come with a theme and we will be awarding prizes for best sprit, costume, and most meals made.
