"How should we live together?" This is the central question of Social and Political Philosophy. In this course we will learn about the main positions taken by (mostly contemporary) philosophers on this question. Most discussions will concern structures that organize our lives together: the state; the laws; the family. Our textbook will be Will Kymlicka's Contemporary Political Philosophy, supplemented by some other readings. Students will do weekly writing assignments in which they examine some specific point arising from the reading.
