Procedure for changing or adding a specialization

Procedure for changing or adding a specialization 

To change or add an Area of Concentration, Major, or Minor, complete the following form:

  • Undergraduate Schedule of Studies Change Request Form [1] 
  • Any questions about specific courses in your Major, Minor or Area of Concentration should be directed to the Faculty Advisor [2] for the specialization.

** Please note that some Majors and Minors do not have “direct entry” and require additional approvals to declare:

Criminal Justice and Public Policy (CJPP) : Instructions on how to declare the Major can be found here [3].

Studio Art (SART) – To declare a Major or Minor in SART, you must first earn a 70% average across three courses [4]. Please email facultyadvisorstudioart@uoguelph.ca [5] if you are having difficulty accessing courses.

International Development Studies– If your Major is IDS, you must declare an Area of Emphasis in consultation with the Faculty Advisor [6] before declaring a Minor from another subject area.

Justice Legal Studies (JLS) -  Instructions on how to declare the Major can be found here [7].

Mathematical Science (MSCI) – If your Major is MSCI, you must declare an Area of Emphasis in consultation with the Faculty Advisor [6] before declaring a Minor from another subject area.

Suspended Minors:

Criminal Justice and Public Policy (CJPP) Minor [8]

Family and Child Studies (FCS) Minor [9]
