Equine Studies Online Programs Evolve to Enhance Flexibility and Learning Experience
Posted on November 5, 2025
Effective January 1, 2026, all four of our Equine Studies Online programs will transition to a new program structure designed to make the learning experience more flexible, streamlined, and effective for learners.
This program refresh reflects a continued commitment to delivering unique curricula, creating clear learning pathways, and aligning with current pedagogical and industry standards. The new structure improves how the programs are organized and delivered, ensuring they better support students throughout their educational journey. Notable updates include expanded elective course options, allowing learners to customize their program to align with their individual interests and career goals within the equine industry.
“Effective, relevant learning experiences are at the core of what we do,” says Gayle Ecker, Director of Equine Guelph. “These program enhancements will help learners gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the changing equine industry of today, whether they’re just beginning their journey or advancing their professional expertise.”
Students enrolled in the programs will have five years to complete the requirements for these new credentials. Details on what’s changing for each program are available on the Transition Pathways for Equine Studies Online Programs page.
New Digital Badges Recognize Learner Achievements
Beginning January 2026, learners will also have a new way to showcase their equine knowledge. The School of Continuing Studies is introducing digital badges for select courses within the Equine Studies Online programs.
These digital badges provide learners with a tangible way to celebrate their achievements and highlight specialized skills on their resume or LinkedIn profile. It’s an ideal option for anyone looking to combine their passion for horses with professional development opportunities.
“We’re excited to introduce new digital badges that recognize the specialized knowledge our learners acquire and provide them with a meaningful way to showcase their achievements,” says Ecker. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see our learners take pride in their accomplishments and use these badges to share their passion and expertise with the broader equine community.”
Visit our Transition Pathways for Equine Studies Online Programs page for a complete list of equine courses eligible for digital badges.
Equine Studies Online courses are offered on a semesterly basis with courses beginning in September, January, and May.
